REQUIRED Technology
For the best experience we suggest downloading the ReCap free app in iTunes or Google Play.
If you are using your computer for this course (or ReCap and Zoom), Google Chrome has provided the best browser experience (do ensure you use the most current version of Chrome, you can update it here).
You will be asked to record video responses during the course. For the best recording experience, download the free app.
Or you can record from the free app on your smart phone or your computer and webcam at: https://app.letsrecap.com/login
Use the class pin provided in each of the course lectures.
- Enter join pin.
- Find your name/circle avitar.
- Find the module number and questions that you will respond to.
- Record for up to two minutes per prompt. If you need additional time, use the "additional recording time question”. If you do not need additional time, state “done”, click next, submit.

Granting Access to Camera and Microphone:
Be sure to turn your volume all the way up if using your phone/tablet and the ap. If using a computer webcam, the first time you record a video, the web browser will ask the user to allow access to the Camera and Microphone. If you are denied access, you’ll need to find this in the browser’s settings.
- How to do this in Google Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2693767?hl=en
- How to do this in the Mozilla Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/sw/kb/firefox-hello-cant-access-my-camera-or-microphone
For WEBINARS and OFFICE HOURS, we use Zoom. The url link is listed in the webinar section of your course if you would like to join from a computer and webcam.
You may also download the free app from iTunes or Google Play to join with the meeting code. Please ensure your smart phone/tablet camera is on and volume is up. Mute yourself as you enter into the call to eliminate background noise.
WATCH THIS EXAMPLE BEFORE YOU RECORD YOUR FIRST MODULE 1 IN THE COURSE
Christine - Condition 2. We wanted to share this video because Christine provides a great example of how to talk to the camera as if she is actually facilitating a conversation. She was able to "receive" feedback from participants without losing track of where she wanted to go in the conversation. Not easily done so thank you for teaching us Christine!
Jesús - Four Agreements. Excellent definitions to set up your participant interaction.
Damian - Condition 2. For a different way of facilitating this question, we share with you Damian's response. We really liked the way he personalized it and brought it back to an investigation of the participant's beliefs.
Nicole - Facilitating an activity using Conditions 2 and 3. Thank you for providing a personal example through your "Above/Below the Line" activity. We won't show your entire recorded clip so future Affiliates can internalize this activity and share from personal knowledge and deep meaning from their own lives and facilitation styles. New Affiliates, after watching Nicole's video clip, what questions will YOU ask in Protocol as you guide your participants in this CCAR?
Matti - Condition 5. Matti asks participants to consider how their personal lived racial experiences shaped their definitions of race. Taking the time to unpack what happens when we use race interchangeably with ethnicity, nationality, or culture is so important when coming to a common definition. Matti guides this CCAR to examine the impact of "perceived" race by skin color in this socially constructed racial society that we live and operate in. Thank you for bringing that into your facilitation.
Freida and Prachee - Condition 6. Great example of co-facilitating the role and impact of whiteness from your individual and unique lived racial perspectives.
